Truly Reviving Our Youth (TROY Center) is a community-based organization in Fresno, CA.
The primary focus of the Mentor role is to mentor youth in need of intentional support in an elementary school setting as well as secondary and high school campuses. Our program is based on research-validated youth development practices. It weaves together evidence-based theoretical frameworks that specifically support impressionable youth. We engage youth in activities that build self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and community connection through trust-building activities, story-telling, critical reflections, and presentations. Our program is premised on four pillars of positive engagement, each centering the strengths, wisdom and dignity of every youth participant.
The TROY Mentor will be effective if they can create:

Healing centered engagement
Reflection and practice
Knowledge of self and community
Mentor Qualifications:
Good communication skills
Ability to take notes and record data
Experience working with youth
Ability to accept and relate to youth who may not share the same lifestyle and values
Respect mentee's right to self-determination and independence
Exhibit intelligence, friendliness, maturity, sensitivity, and responsibility
